Day 7: Livigno, Italy

This day was primarily a logistical day, we went to the airport in Samedan to arrange the helicopter flight to the Err detachment on Day 9, and we crossed the border to Italy to look at syn-rift sedimentary deposits. We also took the opportunity to buy supplies in Italy.

A syn-rift normal fault on the mountainside overlooking the town of Livigno. The fault follows the gully(dipping to the right), note the vegetation change, from a forested hillside (basement) to bare rock (sediments) across the fault.

SW face of Cimo di Pozzin exposes folded and faulted syn-rift marine deposits. Compare with the interpretation ({left)
