Moving day again, so that we were closer to the field sites. This time over the Abula pass to Guarda, a small hillside town in the Engadine valley, part of the Romansch speaking part of Switzerland. We stayed in Guarda for 7 nights.

We rented a house, Chasa 89, in Guarda. The oldest part of the house was built in the early 1500’s. When asked if our group should take any special precautions to care for the newly-refinished hardwood floors, the owner replied “this house has been standing since the 1500’s…I’m sure it’ll survive a group of Americans for a week.” They love us here!
