Day 1: Zurich to Fully, Valais

After arriving in Zurich after a long and mostly uncomfortable flight. We fought off jetlag to make the drive across Switzerland passing by the Jura Mountains (after which the Jurassic period was named), through the Molasse foreland basin, the Pre-Alps, the Helvetic nappes and part of the Mont Blanc basement massif. Eventually we arrived at our base of operations for the first few days the picturesque hillside village of Branson nestling amoungst the vines, near Fully in the Valais. This is the wine growing, French speaking part of the country.
