Dr. Barbara John discusses the big picture.
Our final stop was in the Eagle Wash to examine a contact with a complex faulting and depositional history. This surface was interpreted by Vicky Pease and John Argent as a low angle fault contact that was subsequently partially buried by Tertiary dacite.
Red Tertiary dacite overlies green Tertiary and Cretaceous granitic rocks. Although this superficially resembles the low angle fault contacts seen earlier in the trip, these dacites were deposited on the denuded footwall.
